Nissan Celebrates Month of the Family with Irving Students

For the third year in a row, Parents Step Ahead and Nissan are celebrating March as Month of the Family. To kick off the month, they recently hosted a day of community service at four Irving ISD schools to encourage families to be active participants in their schools. Nissan employees based in Irving worked alongside local volunteers to demonstrate the company’s commitment to education and their community.

The event included beautification efforts at Clifton Early Childhood Center, Lee Elementary, Houston Middle and MacArthur High schools. The day started with a rally and breakfast provided by McDonald’s at Houston MS. Then volunteers then started beautification projects at all four schools. This included preparing a butterfly and vegetable garden, creating rain sticks for toddlers, renovating a teacher’s lounge, organizing a student clothing closet and making over a courtyard. More than 350 volunteers pitched in.

Parents Step Ahead is a nonprofit that works with corporations and community organizations to offer programs for parents. Nissan has a division headquartered in Irving.
