Gas prices bumming you out? What about going gas-less with the Nissan Leaf?

Nissan_leaf

It has a sleek, futuristic body that, you’ll notice, doesn’t have that little door you open up when you fill up with gas. It doesn’t need that little door because it doesn’t use gas. And you’ll notice the Nissan LEAF™ doesn’t have a tailpipe either. There is no need for a tailpipe on a car that doesn’t use gas and has Zero Emissions.*

Remember, we’re not talking about low emissions here. We’re not talking about a car that is powered by some gas and some electricity, like a hybrid is. We are talking about no emissions and zero gas. 100% electric.

Now when you get in the Nissan LEAF™, that’s when it becomes obvious how different this thing really is. You start it with the touch of a button and you are greeted not with the familiar vroom-vroom of a traditional car, but with a soothing modern start-up sound. You know that little techno-greeting when you turn on your computer or cellphone? It’s like that.

Alright, so the car is now running. This is
where it gets really cool – you don’t hear
any engine sounds and you don’t feel any engine vibrations. Silence. You could sit there and listen to yourself breathing if you were so inclined (though that would be kind of weird).

Next, it’s time to actually drive the car. Slip that futuristic gearshift into drive and step on the accelerator. Still no noise, still no vibration, but now there is something else to experience for the first time: 100% instant torque. Instant

Two more happy customers shared their thoughts on DealerRater

"Sometime early in 2011, my husband went to Kenny Ross to "look" at cars. We always have our cars serviced there and have always found them to be honest and fair (at least we think so! He called home and had "found" another car he wanted. He buys cars like I buy shoes! I told him "no" - he had 4 at home! A few weeks later, Josh Phillips called to see when he could expect to sell William a car. I told him "not yet", but I'd keep him in mind. He called back in the fall and once again,I told him "not yet". He promised to call again in the spring. However, the car my son drove (a 2000 Chrysler 300 with 172,000 miles on it had started to bleed him with several small/med. problems, the latest being brakes. So, suddenly, it was "time to car shop". Off went Hubby on his day off to "look" again, but as he had done before, he "found" something! So, my son and I went off to see the "find", which turned out to be a 2012 Sonic AND a 2012 Cruze. After much talk and deliberation over cost and color, Josh Phillips, ever helpful and never pushing, drew up papers to a very nice gold Cruze and Sweet William drove home happy. Though we had gone in looking for "used" low mileage cars, this should make it longer till he "looks" again! Thanks, Josh, and Kenny Ross." - ellastanek

"Our overall car shopping experience was very pleasant. Jim and Pat were both very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The car my husband took me to see was sold shortly before we arrived so Jim showed us around the lot and I found a car I liked even more. They were both very professional and experienced in car sales." - nikvik

Just the Facts:

  • General Motors has released a teaser shot of the interior of the 2013 Buick Enclave, which debuts in April at the 2012 New York Auto Show.
  • The darkened image shows ambient lighting and what appears to be a curvier cabin that cocoons the front-seat occupants.
  • GM said the Enclave will feature "industry-exclusive safety technology and modern design updates."

DETROIT — General Motors has released a teaser shot of the interior of the 2013 Buick Enclave, which debuts in early April at the 2012 New York Auto Show.

The darkened image shows ambient lighting and what appears to be a curvier cabin that cocoons the front-seat occupants.

GM said the Enclave will feature "industry-exclusive safety technology and modern design updates."

The Enclave is the companion vehicle to the 2013 GMC Acadia, which debuted in February at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show and goes on sale later this year. Presumably, the Enclave also will get the industry's first front center airbag, which was previewed on the Acadia. The Acadia gets new sheet metal, including a revised front fascia and wraparound rear glass, along with new 18- and 19-inch wheels.

GM has said that 2011 was Enclave's best sales year since its introduction five years ago, with nearly 50 percent of all new buyers coming to Buick from competitive brands.

While GM offered little information on the redesigned Enclave, it is expected that the crossover will retain the familiar 3.6-liter V6. The EPA says a 2012 Enclave FWD returns 17 mpg in city driving and 24 mpg on the highway. The AAA Daily Fuel Gauge on Thursday said the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline stood at $3.73, a 35 cent increase from a year ago.
