All-New Nissan Pathfinder Named to "Ward's 10 Best Interiors" 2013 List

Today, WardsAuto World named the all-new 2013 Nissan Pathfinder to its annual "Ward's 10 Best Interiors" list for 2013. The recently-redesigned Pathfinder is recognized for its comfortable, yet functional interior.

Vehicles are selected to the "Ward's 10 Best Interiors" list after an intensive evaluation of dozens of nominated vehicles, each judged in areas such as materials, ergonomics, safety, the human-machine interface, comfort, fit and finish, aesthetics and overall value. "Nissan really did its homework in developing the all-new interior for the Pathfinder," said WardsAuto World magazine executive editor Tom Murphy. "It's warm, inviting, spacious and ready for anything.

From the thick, Berber carpet floor mats to the Dual Panorama Moonroof, the new Pathfinder is a fine example of graceful utility." The full "Ward's 10 Best Interiors" feature will be available in the May issue of WardsAuto World and online at www.WardsAuto.com. The award will be presented during a ceremony in Dearborn, Mich., on May 22.

Jon Brancheau, vice president, Marketing, Nissan North America said: "The completely-redesigned Pathfinder is Nissan's most innovative Pathfinder ever. Combining the capability of an SUV with the comfort of a sedan for the entire family, the 2013 Pathfinder offers a tremendous amount of interior room and amenities to keep passengers of any age comfortable. Nissan is honored to receive this prestigious award and thanks WardsAuto World for the recognition."

The all-new fourth-generation Nissan Pathfinder seats up to seven passengers and boasts best-in-class passenger volume, best-in-class front headroom and legroom and class-exclusive reclining third row seats. The Nissan EZ FlexTM Seating System allows the second row to move forward or backward up to 5 1/2 inches for easy access to the back row, even with a child seat installed. When carrying seven passengers, the Pathfinder still accommodates up to 16 cubic feet of cargo.

This most recent honor adds to an already impressive list of awards for Pathfinder this year. In February, MotorWeek announced the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder as their winner in the "Best Large Utility" category at the Chicago Auto Show. Additionally, Popular Mechanics named the Nissan Pathfinder "Most Versatile" in its 2013 Automotive Excellence Awards.

Positive DealerRater Review!

"My sales person, Mark Pritchard, was extremely helpful and made the whole experience, which can be very stressful, a very pleasurable experience. He helped me choose the vehicle I purchased and was able to answer any questions I had pertaining to, not only the vehicle, but was very helpful in working out the details of the financing and making my payments affordable. I would recommend Kenny Ross Ford to anyone and hope that they are fortunate enough get Mark Pritchard as their salesperson." -Kenny Ross Ford South customer

Nissan Leaf All-Electric Taxis Start Pilot Program in NYC

When New York City picked the Nissan NV200 as its Taxi of Tomorrow, many were surprised that the vehicle wasn't electric, or even a hybrid for that matter. With NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg on hand, Nissan celebrated Earth Day on Monday by unveiling a pilot program of electric taxis for the city consisting of six 2013 Nissan Leaf EVs, which the mayor referred to as the "taxi of the day after tomorrow."

This pilot program is aimed to show how EVs can operate as taxi cabs, and Mayor Bloomberg said that New York City hopes to have a third of its taxi fleet electrified by 2020. In addition to the six cars, Nissan has also provided three quick chargers around Manhattan, allowing the Leafs to get an 80-percent recharge in just 30 minutes.

According to David Yassky, commissioner of the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission, "What we have to do now is figure out how you integrate the charging of an electric vehicle into the duty of a taxi cab."

Nissan Happy With eNV200 Electric Van Testing

Regular readers may be familiar with the Nissan NV200 van, soon to be pressed into service in New York City as the much vaunted/maligned "Taxi of Tomorrow."

You may also be aware that Nissan is testing an electric version, the eNV200.

It's currently in test fleets across the globe, and early reports are positive from both fleets and the people driving the vans themselves.

In the UK, energy firm British Gas is one of the companies running a pilot program. If it goes well, the returns are good for Nissan--British Gas hopes to make a "substantial proportion" of its 13,000-vehicle fleet electric by 2015.

It's looking good for Nissan. Particularly cold UK winter weather has provided ideal tough testing conditions for the small fleet of eNV200s, and drivers are coming away impressed.

According to Colin Marriott, fleet general manager at British Gas, "We have been very impressed with all elements of the Nissan eNV200. After our month long test in 2012 which went well the cold weather testing was vitally important to establish the van’s characteristics in real life working conditions.

"The drivers enjoyed the experience and the vehicle’s performance and reliability. We will now continue further testing in 2013 and 2014 ahead of us deciding our future fleet mix."

Nissan's eNV200 is largely based on the regular NV200 delivery van, but swaps out the four-cylinder gasoline drivetrain (or diesel, in Europe) for the running gear from the the Nissan Leaf.

That means a 24 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack and an 80-kilowatt (110-horsepower) electric motor, driving the front wheels. Range is likely shorter than that of the Leaf, yet despite UK testing temperatures reaching 10 degrees, the eNV200 has impressed all concerned.

Data learned in testing can help Nissan develop the van further--perhaps even ready for taxi duty when the expected fleet of electric NV200s makes its New York appearance in the next few years.

Ford to Show Special Edition Raptor on April 9th

There are precious few details, but what we do know is that Ford will be revealing images of "appearance upgrades" for a special-edition 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor on April 9th. The slideshow will happen during a Motor Press Guild luncheon at Ford's Design Center Showroom in Irvine, California.

Without photos or further details, we're left to wonder about the extent of these changes, but aren't expecting anything too significant given the venue. Ford is understood to be revealing a next-generation F-150 with a big weight loss – as much as 700 pounds – for 2014, though it isn't yet clear if that's the truck's model year or simply its on-sale year. For at least a couple of years, Ford forums have been suggesting changes will come with the 2014 Raptor, so there could still be a bigger surprise in store. Either way, we'll know what all this means in a little more than a week. The press release below has the official details, but for the moment, we'll content ourselves by ogling the 2013 model above.

Award of Excellence

Kenny Ross Ford and Chevrolet stores achieved this award of excellence for the highest performing collision repair shop in the district! We would like to congratulate everyone of our employees who helped us accomplish this.

Kenny Ross Ford Positive Review!

"Went in to buy a 2010 Toyota Tundra. Anthony made a convenient appointment with me, we made a fair deal for my old vehicle, and later that day, I was on my way in my new truck. Anthony treated me like family, answered all my questions, and even mailed me my garage door opener that I left in my old vehicle. I highly recommend, not only the dealership, but this particular salesman as well!" -Kenny Ross Ford customer

Thank you for this great review! Kudos to Anthony for a job well done! Read more of our reviews on DealerRater: http://bit.ly/UwRvJQ
